Using the Internet to Learn the Internet
Materials Required: Computer, Internet, a list of terms
Activity Time: 2 – 2 1 / 2 class period
Concept Taught: Basic Internet terminology and concepts
Students: Seventh grade students experience a minimal Internet use. Some students have used the Internet at home or at school, but most have no understanding of what actually is or how it works.
Results: The students will be able to learn key concepts and terms from the Internet.
Note: This is an introductory lesson lessons. Subjects akan datang akan designed to improve students’ understanding and skills that are required (such as search skills).

Learning environment: Depending on the speed of the students and the difficulties they faced, lessons should take 2-2 ? class periods to complete. Class is 84 minutes long and will be held in the computer laboratory.
Teaching / Learning Strategies:
Day 1 – 1 ?: The students will be divided into three groups determined by the ability (more students will be placed with the Internet novices). Each group will be given a list of terms / concepts, each with a different list (see example below). Once the list is distributed, the students will log on to the Internet. Start-up page to preset www.learnthenet.com. The students will be asked to ’see’ through a web page to search for the term / concept. While doing this, the students will keep track of what you have completed the requirements and how they find it. This is done to help share the work so that everyone has the opportunity to participate. Teachers will review the documentation of students by actively monitoring their progress.
Day 1 ? – 2: Once the list is complete, the students will be prepared to present the information they found. The students need to use MS Word to create some type of work that will be filled by other students, because they provide info. Sheets that can be completed, fill in the blank, matching / multiple choice, or that type of puzzle worksheet. Students will use the sheet for future reference. The students will be able to use transparency and overhead projector and / or a computer connected to the Internet and projector to help convey information. Using a computer connected to the Internet and the projector will be emphasized because it provides easy and efficient way to show an example.
Day 2 – 2 ?: The students will present their information to the class. Order of presentation groups will be determined by each group which has the list.
Rating: The students will be assessed on the amount of participation during group work and to include in the overall project effort.
